Ken Kelley Hired as Principal of the Donaghue and Sweetsir Elementary Schools

MERRIMAC — Superintendent Justin Bartholomew is pleased to announce that Ken Kelley has been selected as the new principal of the Helen R. Donaghue and Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir Elementary Schools in Merrimac.

Kelley served as the Pentucket Regional Middle School principal for 13 years until earlier this school year, when he was tapped to become the interim principal of the Donaghue and Sweetsir Schools in November.

He will begin his role as principal on July 1.

“We made this decision based on overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, teachers, community members, parents, and our own observations this school year,” Superintendent Bartholomew said. “Mr. Kelley works exceedingly well alongside Assistant Principal Stephanie Dembro, and together they’ve done a great job of supporting teachers, connecting with students and helping to develop a positive culture of trust, respect and fun.”

Jim Carlson is currently the interim principal at Pentucket Regional Middle School, and was previously the assistant principal at the school until he became the interim principal in November.

The district will begin seeking applicants for the principal position at Pentucket Regional Middle School this week.
