Pentucket Student Artists Nominated for Statewide Virtual Exhibit
WEST NEWBURY — Superintendent Justin Bartholomew and Principal Jonathan Seymour are pleased to share that the work of five Pentucket High School students has been submitted for consideration for the Massachusetts Art Education Association’s Massachusetts Amazing Emerging Artists Recognition Exhibit this March.
The virtual exhibit will feature the art of Massachusetts students in grades nine through 12, selected by a jury of art educators. Educators were able to submit a maximum of five students each to be considered for the exhibit. Categories for submissions include: drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, digital/graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, fashion and printmaking.
The virtual exhibit will open on March 1, and selected artwork will be announced on Feb. 8. For more information, visit the Massachusetts Art Education Association’s website here. The date for an awards ceremony associated with the exhibit will be announced at a later date as well.
The student’s artwork was nominated to be included in the exhibit by Pentucket Regional High School Fine and Performing Arts Department Chair Marcia Nadeau.
“These students have worked hard to grow as artists and have created some beautiful work,” Nadeau said. “I am proud to share their art and acknowledge their exceptional effort.”
Artwork submitted for consideration includes:
- “Marshall Point,” an acrylic painting by sophomore Elizabeth Murphy of Merrimac
- “Looking Glass,” an acrylic painting by senior Jillian DePaolo of West Newbury
- “Magnum Opus,” an acrylic painting by senior Jonathan Rhodes of Groveland
- “Lord Ballard,” a soft sculpture by senior Timothy Friend of West Newbury
- “Untitled,” an acrylic painting by sophomore Audrey Hacket of Merrimac
All of the student art submitted was created during the current school year.
“These students have created incredible works of art, and it is always a pleasure to see what students are able to make through a variety of mediums,” Superintendent Bartholomew said. “A wonderful job to all of these students on the exemplary pieces they created this school year, and thank you to Marcia Nadeau for submitting this art to be considered for this exhibit.”
