Pentucket Regional School District Welcomes New Assistant Principals

WEST NEWBURY — Superintendent Justin Bartholomew is pleased to announce that three educators are the first to be appointed as assistant principals for the Pentucket Regional School District’s elementary schools.

“Recently, we reviewed the administrative structure of the district, and we realized very quickly that there was a great need for an assistant principal at each of our elementary schools,” Superintendent Bartholomew said. “Both administrators and teachers alike agreed that the additional support and oversight would benefit students and staff. We’re thrilled to welcome each of our new assistant principals, and I have complete confidence they will serve our district well for years to come.”

Among the new assistant principals is Jim Day, a longtime employee of the district. Day served as the School Support Coordinator last year at the Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School and will now serve as the school’s first assistant principal. He previously worked as a physical education and wellness teacher at the school for 19 years.

Stephanie Dembro has also been selected to serve as the assistant principal at both the Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir and Helen R. Donaghue Elementary Schools in Merrimac. Dembro previously served as a third grade teacher in Melrose for 19 years.

The Pentucket Regional School District also welcomes Katie Provost as the assistant principal at the Dr. John C. Page Elementary School in West Newbury, where she will also serve as the school’s Educational Team Facilitator. Most recently, Provost worked as a Special Education Team Coordinator in Middleton.

Pentucket Regional School District also welcomes 16 new teachers this school year, who met for an orientation and induction program on Aug. 21 and 22.
