Pentucket Regional School District Welcomes Four New Hires
WEST NEWBURY — Superintendent Justin Bartholomew is pleased to welcome four new hires to the Pentucket Regional School District.
Rebecca Law has been hired to the role of assistant principal and SPED team coordinator for Page Elementary, Jen Hogan to the role of literacy and humanities coordinator and coach for grades kindergarten through six, Robin Doherty to the role of instruction and curriculum coordinator and coach for grades seven through 12, and Tara Ellis to the role of district special education program coordinator.
“I am so pleased to have these new hires joining our team,” said Superintendent Bartholomew. “They each bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our district, including inclusive teaching approaches and special education services. I am confident that they will be valuable assets and I would like to officially welcome them to Pentucket.”
Law, Hogan, Doherty and Ellis all begin their new roles July 1.
Rebecca Law, Assistant Principal and SPED Team Coordinator for Page Elementary
Law, of Haverhill, holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Arcadia University and a master’s in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also completed postgraduate coursework with a focus in special education and English at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Law’s most recent role was as a special education coordinator at Andover Public Schools. She also has previously worked as a special education teacher and special education team coordinator at Haverhill Public Schools. Additionally, she served as a special education teacher in school districts in North Carolina, as well as England.
“I was drawn to the district due to the duality of the role and the opportunity to work in elementary school,” Law said. “My career has always straddled special education and general education – this role joins the two, which couldn’t be more perfect. I’m excited to be part of a small school and embed myself in the local community.”
Jen Hogan, Literacy and Humanities Coordinator and Coach for grades K-Six
Hogan, of Beverly, holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Stonehill College. She also holds a master’s in education degree in reading and literacy from Endicott College and is currently working towards a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from Gordon College.
She previously served as a reading specialist for Lynn Public Schools and as a literacy fellow at Marblehead Public Schools.
She is also a Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) Literacy Champion and is an expert in evidence-based literacy instruction. Additionally, She was selected by DESE to conduct a webinar for educators across the state on the new MASS Literacy Guide.
“Pentucket has been doing tremendous work around literacy over the past couple of years and has really become a model district under the current administration for improving evidence based literacy practices,” Hogan said. “I am thrilled to be joining this team to continue these efforts and have a further impact on student achievement by supporting teachers in their literacy/humanities instruction.”
Robin Doherty, Instruction and Curriculum Coordinator and Coach grades Seven-12
Doherty holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a secondary education minor and a master’s in education with a concentration in reading from Salem State College. She also holds a doctorate in education with a focus in teaching and learning from American International College.
Since 2006, Doherty has served in various roles at Malden High School, including teacher, tutor and staff mentor. Doherty was also recently elected to the Danvers Public School Committee.
“I am excited for my new role as Curriculum Coordinator, seven through 12,” Doherty said. “I was drawn to Pentucket because differentiation is my passion which aligns with the district’s mission statement. I am also impressed with the variety of course offerings in each department which further fosters a student’s individual learning potential. I am looking forward to collaborating with educators and administration in my new role.”
Tara Ellis, District Special Education Program Coordinator
Ellis, of Merrimac, holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from Bridgewater State College and a master’s in school administration with a focus in education leadership from the University of Southern Maine. She also holds a certificate in social-emotional learning from Lesley College.
Since 2015, she has worked as a special education team coordinator at Newburyport Public Schools. She has also previously worked at districts in Maine, including the Saco Schools as an assistant director of student services.
“I am very excited to be joining the Pentucket School District as I live in Merrimac with my husband and two daughters,” Ellis said. “I am greatly looking forward to being a part of the education team here.”
